Sassa

The village of La Sassa or commonly called Sassa is part of the town of Montecatini Val di Cecina in the province of Pisa. The fraction is at the Left Bank Sterza, in the eastern part of Poggio al Pruno, where you can see a part of the sea in which we are seeing some islands of the Tuscan Archipelago. The first documentation of the village date back to 1008, while in 1159 it was transferred to the monastery of Monteverdi and in 1208 passed the town of Volterra, until 1283 years in which he swore loyalty to the Commune of the Lombards.
